FORMER Premiership outfit, Shabanie Mine will face another litmus test when they take on Chrome Stars in a Zifa Central Soccer League encounter at Maglas Stadium tomorrow.
The Chinda Boys, who have not made it a secret of wanting to make a quick return to the topflight league, have not had the best of starts in the league.
After securing a one nil win against Mvuma Stars in the season opener, things went awry for the asbestos miners as they suffered a morale sapping 1-3 loss to league newcomers ZPC Munyati before losing 1-2 to MSU last weekend.
On the other hand, Chrome Stars are seasoned campaigners and so far they are still to lose a match after winning two of their opening matches before being held to a one all draw by Gweru United last week.
Despite the Kwekwe based side’s impressive record so far, Shabanie Mine mentor, Arnold Jani said he was looking at nothing short of victory to get his side’s championship challenge back on track.
“We’re looking at nothing short of victory and the two defeats are now water under the bridge to us. We’ve gone back to the drawing board and we’ve rectified our mistakes and nothing will stop us from winning,” he said.
His counterpart, Yolam Ngwira was equally upbeat and said he would want to protect his unbeaten record.
In other matches, a top of the table clash is in the offing as second placed ZPC Munyati take on surprise log leaders, FC Platinum Under 19 in Munyati.
The two sides have surprised all and sundry as the young platinum miners, composed entirely of Under 20 players, do not harbour championship ambitions. They are a feeder side to Premiership team, FC Platinum.
