SHABANIE Mine will miss the services of their influential skipper Farai Mupasiri when they travel to Harare this Saturday to meet Black Rhinos at Rufaro. Mupasiri has been suspended after accumulating cards in matches against CAPS United, Bantu Rovers and Triangle. Together with the Highlanders duo of Ralph Matema and Rahman Kutsanzira, Hwange’s Admire Banda, How Mine’s Frank Mukarati and ZPC Kariba’s Tawanda Nyamandwe, they will sit out on the weekend games.
The former Dynamos forward is enjoying his game again in the mining town of Zvishavane where he has managed to resurrect his career. And it will not be surprising next year if he gets a better contract from the league’s big teams. However, the forward still has a big task to help his team avoid relegation with the Saturday’s game a crucial match for the Chinda Boys in their bid for survival.
Shabanie are deep in relegation waters, fourth from bottom with 32 points. Yadah Stars have 34 while Bulawayo City and Harare City are tied on 36 points. But the Zvishavane miners have vowed they will not return to Division One again. The relegation battle is quite intense with four teams getting the chop when the season ends. Half of the clubs in the league are not safe at the moment. Relegated Bantu Rovers host Tonderai Ndiraya’s title-chasing Ngezi Platinum.
