SHABANIE Mine supporters’ executive is baying for the blood of their top club executive having resolved to fire them with immediate effect on allegations of impoverishing the hugely popular Midlands club.
The supporters yesterday fired three members of the executive, Chairman Elias Marufu, Vice Chairman Joseph Zimuto and Secretary General Jonathan Ruhukwa replacing the chairman with the treasurer Max Nyashanu.
Bvaru Bvaru as Shabanie Mine supporters prefer to call their team, survived relegation this season despite operating on arguable the poorest budget in the country with reports that players occasionally struggled to have descent meals.
Considering that the Chinda Boys enjoy a huge following in the small mining town, supporters feel failure to attract cooperate sponsorship is as a result of incompetence on the part of the Marufu-led executive.
The club’s spokesperson Weston Wesley confirmed that the supporters had fired the executive but was quick to say the move can only be confirmed or rejected at their Annual General Meeting (AGM) expected later this month.
“The supporters said they have fired the top executive and they have written to the club notifying us of their position, they even said they are now writing to the bank to stop these three from being signatories of the club funds, but the way it has been done is not legal.
“Our constitution has a provision that supporters can fire the executive but that can only be done at the AGM because they have a role to play at the AGM.
“I do not know why they have not waited for the AGM which is days away, to fire those they feel must not continue to be part of the executive.
“So as it is the move is illegal until the AGM sometime this month. We do not have a date as yet but the meeting is definitely on this month,” said Wesley.
The technical department struggled to motivate players going into matches and they were constantly bailed out by the mother of their captain Farai Mupasiri.
