“If the time comes when God calls me to my resting place in Heaven, I ask you to remember that my life was more than my illness.
“I know that you may cry because you love me and I understand that saying goodbye to someone you love is painful.
“You do not have to hide your tears or pretend that you are not hurting.
“But when you remember me, I hope that your tears will one day make room for smiles, gratitude, and beautiful memories.
“Please find comfort in your faith and in the love we have shared. If it brings you peace, remember that I am placing my hope in God and trusting Him with my life.
MY FUNERAL WISHES
“If I pass away and my family is able to honour these wishes, I would love:
• The dress code to be purple or all white, as these are the colours I would love to see worn in my memory.
• My casket to be beautifully branded or decorated with my photographs, so that my family and friends can remember my face, my smile, and the life I lived.
• My funeral to be filled with love, prayers, unity, and peaceful remembrance.
• My family and friends to stand together, comfort one another, and celebrate the precious memories we shared.
• I do not want my life to be remembered only through sadness. I want it to be remembered through love, courage, kindness, faith, and the people who stood beside me.
These are my wishes, shared from my heart, and I hope they will be treated with love and understanding.
A MESSAGE TO EVERYONE: PLEASE DO NOT FORGET ME
“If one day you find yourself thinking about me, please do not be afraid to speak my name.
“Tell my story.
“Remember the little girl who fought a difficult battle, who had people she loved, who received kindness from strangers and friends, and whose life brought people together.
“Remember that even though I am only 13 years old, my life has meaning.
“I may not have had the chance to experience everything I dreamed of, but I have experienced something beautiful: the love of a family, the kindness of people, the dedication of doctors and nurses, and the compassion of those who chose to stand beside me.
“Please continue supporting children who are fighting cancer. Comfort families who are going through difficult medical journeys. Help those who cannot afford treatment. Visit those who are sick, and remind them that they are not forgotten.
“Let my story inspire kindness. Let my journey remind you to love one another while you still have the opportunity. And above all, let peace remain among you.
MY FINAL WORDS OF LOVE
“To my mother and father, my grandmother, my siblings, my doctors, my nurses, my school, my friends, and everyone who has helped me:
“Thank you for being part of my life. Thank you for loving me. Thank you for helping me. Thank you for giving me memories that my family can hold close to their hearts.
“If I ever leave this world, please know that I have loved you all deeply.
“Do not allow disagreements to separate you. Do not allow sadness to destroy the love we have shared. Forgive one another, care for one another, and remain united.
“To every relative, friend, well-wisher, supporter, prayer warrior, and kind-hearted person who has helped me and my family during this difficult illness:
“Some of you may have helped financially. Others may have offered food, transport, medical assistance, encouragement, prayers, or simply a listening ear.
“Some of you may have helped in ways that nobody else knows about. Please know that nothing you did was too small to matter.
“When my family and I were facing some of the darkest days of our lives, your kindness brought light into our world.
“Thank you for standing with us when we needed support. Thank you for giving when you could. Thank you for praying when there were no words. Thank you for reminding us that compassion still exists.
“May God remember every act of kindness you have shown us and bless you in ways beyond your imagination. “You have all become part of my story, and I will forever be grateful.
“When you wear purple or white in my memory, when you see my photographs, or when someone tells a story about me, I hope you will remember that I was here.
“I was here. I was loved. I mattered. And my story will live on through all of you.
“May God give my family strength, comfort every hurting heart, bless everyone who helped us, and bring peace to all who have been part of my journey.
“Until we meet again in God’s time, please carry my love with you. With all the love my little heart can hold
“YOUR BELOVED DR E. SHALOM, forever loved. Forever remembered. Never forgotten, love, peace and unity among you all.
“I love you more than words can ever say.”
