AN Insuza love affair took a dark and terrifying turn after a 53 year old man was dragged before the courts accused of kidnapping and raping his 15-year-old girlfriend.
Tendai Ndlovu of Plot 7 Maraposa appeared before Bulawayo magistrate Lungile Ncube facing serious charges of kidnapping and rape. He was remanded in custody until 9 January for sentencing.
Prosecutor Sehliselo Khumalo told the court that the disturbing incident occurred on 11 November 2025 at Plot 71 Maraposa in Insuza. The complainant had gone to Ndlovu’s homestead around 6PM to collect money he allegedly owed her.
The “brief visit” reportedly turned into a nightmare. The court heard that upon her arrival, Ndlovu took the child into his house where they chatted while lying on his bed. Around 7PM, the atmosphere allegedly changed.
Ndlovu is accused of beginning to kiss the complainant, fondling her breasts and removing her dress and panties before mounting her and having sexual intercourse with her without her consent. It is further alleged that he kept her at his homestead against her will.
The matter only came to light the following day when Ndlovu released the complainant and she returned home. She immediately reported the incident to her mother, and her father later accompanied her to the police station to make a formal report.
In an emotional account, the father told the court he was shocked by the allegations, revealing that he had known Ndlovu for more than 10 years and that the accused had watched his daughter grow up.
The complainant confirmed that she had gone to collect money but said Ndlovu locked her up and assaulted her. She did not deny that they had previously been involved in a relationship.
