Shameless Sahara reporter regrets door-stepping President

AMERICA-TRAINED Nigerian activist cum pseudo journalist Adeola Fayehun of the supposed television station Sahara Reporters who tried to embarrass President Mugabe during his recent visit to Nigeria has regretted her unprofessional conduct. Fayehun, who ambushed President Mugabe as he left the venue of Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari’s inauguration at Eagle Square, Abuja, last month described her questioning of the president’s tenure as “awful and very bad”.

During her botched attempt at door-stepping President Mugabe, Fayehun unashamedly threw questions at the President, before flagrantly responding to her own questions after realising that her lunacy was not being entertained.

The self-styled scribe’s conduct received massive criticism on social media and across the African continent, forcing her to end her television show “Keeping it Real” last week.
In the last episode of the show posted on video blogging website YouTube yesterday, Fayehun apologised for some of the excerpts of her failed interview with President Mugabe which she said were not meant for public consumption.

“I have been attacked for asking (President) Mugabe when he will step down. I was hoping (President) Mugabe would say something.
“I can really agree with you guys that what I did was awful, it was terrible what I did, very disrespectful of me. How dare I, a small girl like myself, asking (sic) a whole president when he would step down, especially here in Africa where we are not supposed to ask questions of our elders. We should respect our elders especially politicians and we are not supposed to challenge them, which is why this is my last episode of Keeping it Real,” she said.
The shamed wannabe journalist went on to describe President Mugabe as a hero.

“I understand as Africans we should defend our heroes, those who stood up against the West and fought for independence from colonial settlers and Mugabe is a hero,” said Fayehun.

She, however, went on to blatantly expose her lack of knowledge about Zimbabwe and her inadequacies as a worthy journalist when she said that the country’s demonetised currency were rands, as she attempted to blame the Zimbabwean First Family for the hyperinflation that the country witnessed around 2008.

“Do you know that the way they have (First Family) handled the economy of Zimbabwe has led to classic inflation, I’m talking about 231 million percent inflation in which a loaf of bread was costing 10 million Zimbabwean rands, and $1 was equivalent to 1,5 million Zimbabwean rands,” she said.

Political analyst Dr Lawton Hikwa said Fayehun’s actions were regrettable and it was in order that she came to her senses and realised her folly in trying to humiliate a Head of State.
