She was 84.
Minister Shamu said the death of Amai Ndebele was devastating in the sense that she had been making steady recovery.
“The family, notably her two boys, three girls, her grandchildren, the Ndebele and Gangeni families have lost an oasis of love, source of strength and comfort who will forever be missed,” said Minister Shamu.
He said the two families must be consoled by the fact that the nation shared the loss, as she was a heroine who gave the country a distinguished freedom fighter and patriot par excellence in Sobusa Gula-Ndebele.
Meanwhile, Zanu-PF national chairman Ambassador Simon Khaya Moyo yesterday consoled Mashonaland West provincial chairman John Mafa following the death of his son who was laid to rest on Saturday.
“Losing a son is the most painful experience,” he said.
“We all place our hopes in our sons and daughters cognisant of the fact that in them the future is anchored. They are the inheritors of our legacy and tomorrow’s leaders.
“The untimely death of your son has robbed your family of tomorrow’s truth and Zimbabwe is poorer by his unexpected departure.”
