family following the death of radio personality and entertainer Hilton Mambo.
Affectionately known as “Dr Bhobho” by his legion of fans, Mambo died last Monday at the Avenues Clinic after succumbing to hernia. He was 60.
In a statement yesterday, Minister Shamu said the entertainment industry had lost a multi-talented personality. Mambo was a part-time producer, disc jockey, session musician and sound engineer.
“An affable character and radio personality, Dr Bhobho performed with many groups, amongst them the Summer Breeze Brand, Groovey Union, Unity Band and Sound Effects where he played alongside the likes of lead guitarist Manu Kambani and keyboard wizard Moses Kabhubhi,” he said. Minister Shamu added: “Hilton is gone but the music industry will forever cherish his memory . . . we join his wife and children in the comfort that his memory abides with us; that through that memory, Hilton is more present than living man,” he said.
