Shamwari Yemwanasikana hosts workshop

Shamwari Yemwanasikana in partnership with The World’s Children’s Prize will be hosting a child rights training programme today from 9am to 1pm at the Long Cheng Plaza. The organisation was established in Zimbabwe to promote children’s rights in a manner that children learn about their rights and fight for them.

Issues to be addressed include children’s rights, sex trade and corporal punishment.

The aim of the workshop is to contribute towards an increased knowledge and awareness on equal rights for both girls and boys.

The workshop calls on all girls to attend and make their voices heard and demand their rights, grow knowledge and motivation to increase their capacity to act.

Other factors to be discussed will be the rate of unemployment in Zimbabwe that has given birth to poverty, leading to school drop outs which in turn cause sex trade, commercial sex among girls as young as 12 years, becoming a natural way out of poverty. – Cool Writer.
