CAPS United’s new recruit, Tanaka Shandirwa, says he has finally achieved his childhood dream of joining the club.
His first attempt failed after he failed to impress then CAPS United coach, Darlington Dodo, during a two-month trial four years ago.
Shandirwa then joined Yadah, where he quickly proved himself, convincing Genesis Mangombe to offer him a contract.
In his first season, Shandirwa scored twice against Makepekepe, seemingly making a point to Dodo.
In four goals that he has registered in the Premiership, three of them have been against the Green Machine.
Shandirwa later joined Dynamos during the 2023 campaign.
Although he appeared to lose his way last season, attracting attention for the wrong reasons, CAPS United owner Farai Jere felt he could give him another chance.
And, Shandirwa is a very happy man.
“I’m happy to be at CAPS United and I’m ready to give everything for this club,” Shandirwa wrote on his Facebook page after completing his move.
Shandirwa also expressed his gratitude to Yadah for providing him with a platform and Prophet Walter Magaya for creating an environment which enables young talented players to grow.
He also thanked Dynamos for helping him become the player he is today.
Shandirwa is expected to line up in what appears to be a very strong CAPS United midfield alongside new signings Juan Mutudza, Kundai Benyu and Brighton Manhire.
There is a growing belief that the Green Machine will be competitive this season and some of their fans feel CAPS United could end their nine-year wait for the league championship.
The club’s financial crisis, which has affected them in the past few seasons, is now a thing of the past, according to Jere.
