ZIFA Central Region Soccer League leaders Sheasham FC will face off against Chapungu FC, the Air Force of Zimbabwe side, in a highly anticipated Gweru derby at Bata Stadium on Wednesday afternoon.

Known as Mabhiridha, Sheasham FC aims to defend its top spot on the league table. They currently lead with 66 points, just two points ahead of second-placed Hardrock FC from Kwekwe and eight points clear of third-placed Gwanda Pirates.

Chapungu FC, affectionately called Waru Waru by their supporters, sit a distant fourth with 41 points but are eager to close the gap.

A loss for Sheasham FC could prove disastrous for their title hopes, as Hardrock FC and Gwanda Pirates are hot on their heels. With so much at stake, the match promises to be a thrilling and fiercely contested encounter.

Kick-off is scheduled for 3pm, and beyond the vital points on offer, pride and Gweru city bragging rights will be fiercely contested. Their last meeting on June 1 at Ascot Stadium ended in a tense 1–1 draw, setting the stage for another gripping battle.

Chapungu FC is determined to secure maximum points to boost their push for a top-four finish, while Mabhiridha will be equally motivated to maintain their dominance.

Whenever Mabhiridha and Waru Waru clash, sparks fly — and today’s derby promises nothing less.
