SHEASHAM who were relegated from the Premier Soccer League last season want a quick return to the big boys’ league.
The team’s bid for a quick return to the Premier Soccer League has been bolstered by experienced players who recently joined them.
Among the experienced players who recently joined the Construction Boys is Rahman Kutsanzira from Bulawayo giants, Highlanders. Lizwe
Sweswe hopes that the former Bosso, Caps, FC Platinum and national team player will use his experience to assist the team to quickly return to the Premier League.
Sweswe also brought in goalkeeper Khulekani Dube from Bulawayo Chiefs, a team he formerly coached. This will see more competition for Elton Sibanda who was the team’s number one last season.
The other Bulawayo Chiefs players who joined Sheasham are Ayanda Ncube, Brian Rusinga and Kimjoe Sibanda.
Many people would question these players’ decision to move from a Premiership side to second tier football but according to Dube, the Gweru-based side is paying better salaries.
“At times it is not about the level which you play at, football these days especially in Zimbabwe is about making sure that you find a place where you feel settled and you are able to take care of your family,” said Dube.
He said the aim is to assist the team to return to topflight football as quickly as possible so that everybody is happy again.
“It is not going to be an easy season as everybody now knows that they will have to pull up their socks whenever they face us,” said Dube.
Teams like ZPC Munyati and Tongogara are expected to be among the title contenders alongside Sheasham in the upcoming Central Region Division One league whose commencement dates are yet to be confirmed.
