beshxt” Chauke continues to remain behind bars after yet another failed bail attempt.
The Limpopo High Court in Polokwane dismissed Shebeshxt’s latest bail appeal, ruling that his legal team failed to present any “new facts” or exceptional circumstances.
Shebeshxt was arrested in November 2025 over an alleged road rage shooting incident in Polokwane.
His legal team, led by Senior Counsel Laurence Hodes, offered R100,000 bail and stated the controversial musician would accept house arrest.
His defence further cited his celebrity reputation, alleged failures by Correctional Services to provide necessary medical care for his injuries, and the hardship of being separated from his newborn child.
The State successfully argued these were recycled facts. The court noted that separation from a newborn is a hardship shared by all awaiting-trial inmates and does not qualify as exceptional.
Shebeshxt remains in custody and is facing 21 criminal charges, including attempted murder, assault, and culpable homicide. His main case has been postponed to September 10, 2026, at the Polokwane Regional Court to allow his team to consult on newly added charges –IOL
