ceremony at Pamuzinda Community Centre in Hatcliffe yesterday, Small and Medium Enterprises and Co-operatives Development Minister Sithembiso Nyoni said most SMEs were struggling financially owing to high rentals.
“Most SMEs are struggling to increase their profit margins due to the exorbitant rentals that are being charged by property owners whilst others are still grappling even to get those expensive workspaces,” Minister Nyoni said.
She said the Government recently undertook to help with provision of infrastructure for SMEs.
“The policy requires local authorities to give priority in land provision to the development of SMEs,” he said.
Minister Nyoni applauded the ministry’s partnership with Silveira House, American Friends Services Committee and Zimbabwe Women’s Bureau in initiating the construction of factory shells in Hatcliffe.
“This kind of partnership in this project should make Hatcliffe to be an envy of other high density areas,” she said.
American Friends Services Committee regional director for Africa Mr Dereje Wordofa lauded the Zimbabwean people for their hard work.
“You have indeed shown to us Zimbabwe has a people who are very hardworking,” he said.
