PERRaNCE Shiri, the Commander of the Air Force of Zimbabwe, has commended the support they received at their Charity Golf Day which was held at Police Golf Club yesterday. Shiri said they are looking forward to extending their charity work to several provinces as it helps the less-privileged and encouraged the corporate world to continue supporting such noble ideas.
“Since the establishment in 2011, we have learned the value of partnership which, I am informed, is also important in betterball format of golf played today.
“Over the years, the Commander Air Force of Zimbabwe Charity Fund has grown in terms of scope and reach of the programmes to assist the less privileged.
“The demand for resources has also increased and the charity fund has had to find other innovative ways, such as the golf day to raise funds to support all charity programmes.
“We have completed building Murongwe Primary and the school has since enrolled more than 600 students who are accommodated in modern structures.”
Shiri said they are happy that the charity has also given birth to the construction of a clinic at Murongwe as well.
“Through your support we have also managed to complete Murongwe Clinic. Plans are underway to construct a secondary school and a vocational training school to complement the development which we had. The charity fund has also established a scholarship fund to support disadvantaged children particularly in rural areas,” Shiri said.
