RISING contemporary musician, Takudzwanashe “Shonaboi” Mutsvairi, says he has decided to quit his job to focus on his music career.
The 19-year-old told H-Metro he has been working in Ngezi in a bid to raise money for studio time.
“I used to work in Mhondoro-Ngezi but I stopped because I am now focusing on my music career.
“I have made my decision and I am going to keep on working hard in the music circles.
“It was not that rosy.
“I started music when I was still at school but my background couldn’t allow me to record music due to financial constraints.
“I recorded my first song at Mulanation, after I joined a group called Red Pyramid Pharaohs (in Chitungwiza) in 2019,” he said.
The Bindura-bred entertainer recently dropped the song titled Ndinewe, which is receiving a fair share of airplay on local radio stations courtesy of Canada-based entrepreneur and real estate mogul, Zeb Tsikira.
“I am humbled by the response I am getting and the song is being played on radio stations.
“It’s a love song and I tell you it’s a must-listen song if you believe in love thanks to Zeb Tsikira, who is behind the production.
“Zeb is my developer, he is trying to build a better version of Shonaboi as he is sponsoring my music.”
Similar sentiments were echoed by Tsikira.
“Shonaboi is talented young man who is eager to succeed in the music industry.
“His work ethic is unmatched.
“He sent me his demo a few months back and we (my team and myself) did a lot of research about him, looked at his previous work. We then realised that he is talented but no one to harness it.
“We contacted him and connected him with one of the best producers in the country Bleqboithadan. The rest is history,” he said.
Zeb said he wishes to share his vision through music.
“I am passionate about music, anything we put out there, I have to vibe to it first.
“I also get to be involved in the production as well.
“I do give advice here and there just to make sure artists reach full potential. I mix business and music through making sure my brand is well positioned,” he said.
He added:
“We have several upcoming artists we are working with.
“This year we want to make sure Zimbabwe and the world notice how talented our young people are in the music industry.
