Shoppa Stoppa manager, supervisor face 27 counts of fraud

amounting to US$15 822.
Amos Manyonda (24) and Berman Nyimo (33) employed by Shoppa Stoppa Stores in Harare as manager and supervisor respectively pleaded not guilty to the charges. The duo appeared before magistrate, Ms Jessica

Kufa yesterday who granted them US$150 bail each and remanded them to December 15.
Prosecutor, Ms Tafadzwa Makwande, alleged that from April 5 to October 15 last year, Nyimo would receive money from the shop’s cash registers and keep it in the safe. On dates agreed between the two, the money from the shop sales would be consolidated and taken to Shoppa Stoppa Head Office in Harare for banking.

The two would take turns to bank the money. But they acted in connivance and would take the money for banking, leaving some in the safe.
Upon returning from the bank, Manyonda and Nyimo, would share the money equally. After sharing the money, they would make some material alterations on the cash receiving vouchers.
This was done to conceal evidence. An audit was carried out and it was established that a total of US$15 822 had been stolen. Nothing was recovered.
