Shot policeman undergoes successful op

He was holding the bullet that was successfully removed from his chest.

“I am very happy because they have removed the bullet from my chest. I underwent the operation in the morning and everything went on well.

“I am hoping to be discharged soon as I am feeling better compared to when I came to this place on Monday,” said Cst Matupire.

Speaking after the hospital visit, the officer commanding Lupane District, Chief Superintendent Johannes Govo, said he was happy that the operation was successful.

“Police often go into the line of fire while executing their mandate to maintain law and order. We are, however, grateful that our officer successfully underwent the operation and that they managed to remove the bullet,” said Chief Supt Govo.

Konson appeared in court on Thursday and was remanded in custody to 27 September.

Konson allegedly shot Ms Ncube twice in the head and once on the left thigh using a Bruno pistol.

He then allegedly shot Cst Matupire, who was in police uniform in the chest.

Konson also reportedly went into Daluzane Investments and allegedly took R300 after he threatened to shoot and kill the shop attendant.
