Gospel musician Innocent Shumbahuru over the weekend introduced his live band at a church crusade held in Mabvuku. The musician still needs to do a lot to make his stage presence felt, but he managed to keep congregants entertained with his songs.

Songs such as “Mufudzi Akanaka” and “Nhai Mwanangu” were outstanding.

The musician who released his fourth album titled “Mufudzi Akanaka” last month said though he has busy schedules he will be performing at some church events.

“It is difficult to balance the two but I had to form a band. I am optimistic that it will work,” he said. He hailed another gospel musician Trymore Bande for assisting him in having the outfit.

“Bande and his band members have been assisting me and I am happy that it has not just cemented our relationship but the music we do together is outstanding,” he said.

Shumbahuru who has been mistaken for Blessing Shumba because of their similarities in beats said he was ministering the word of God through music.

“The similarity in our beats is no longer the focus because people now know us with our different projects. I am happy that even Shumba understands the situation and we are working together on some projects,” he said.

“I had problems in the past because people were confusing me with Shumba but on this album people know the difference and I am happy all is now well,” said Shumba.

He said they use the same producers on their albums. Shumbahuru’s first album “Maropafadzo” was recorded in 2006.

“By then this type of gospel was not yet popular but I am glad God has managed to give us the light,” he said.

The musician recorded two other albums “Kudzaishe” and “Garai Munashe” that brought the musician to the limelight.
