Sibanda hails Mapeza

ZIFA vice president Omega Sibanda has saluted Norman Mapeza for his honesty in advising the association that his workload at FC Platinum means he can’t give the Warriors the full attention they require. Mapeza took charge of the Warriors’ first 2019 AFCON qualifier against Liberia and led them to a 3-0 win in June. He had been earmarked to take charge of the Warriors for the two matches against Lesotho and Namibia next month and the CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup tournament.

But Mapeza has told ZIFA not to consider him and Sibanda says the coach has demonstrated a lot of professionalism. “Mapeza was nice and honest to us,” said Sibanda.

”He told us that he cannot take the job for now as he is still contracted at FC Platinum. He told us that there is a possibility he might be playing in the Champions’ League next year and it will be difficult for him to hold both positions. ”But I can assure you that as ZIFA we have moved on and everything is in order for that position.”
