Sibanda outlines his Bosso dream

ASPIRING Highlanders committee member Bheka “Mahii” Sibanda says his quest to be part of the club’s executive is inspired by his desire to add value to the institution.

Mahii, as Sibanda is popularly known, believes after contributing to the club as a life member it is now time to assist from within where he believes he can add value to Bosso.

Sibanda is making a second attempt to be a committee member having previously lost to incumbent Mgcini Mafu in the March 2021 elections.

Mafu gunned 176 of the vote compared to Sibanda’s 128.

This time around Sibanda will contest against Kindman Ndlovu and Mafu if he chooses to seek re-election.

“My participation and contributions to club activities has never been driven by elections or positions but by a desire to contribute in any way I am requested or I see a need. I’m inspired by wanting to add some value to our club. It is for this reason that I accepted the call by some fellow members to run for the committee member position again,” says Sibanda.

The passionate Bosso follower says he brings something unique to the club.

“I offer commitment, flexibility, humility and a dogged desire for finding solutions and faithfulness to the club’s culture, norms and values. I am a unifier in words and deeds.

“The duties of a committee member are what they are. What is important is not the perception of limitation but the reality of flexibility and elasticity inherent in them.

“The role requires one to have a broad appreciation of so many matters relating to football, club affairs and good governance. I find this exciting because one can avail and stretch themselves out to the farthest of their human ability in service to club football administration and leadership. What is important is not that one is a sweeper and not a ‘boss’ but that they strive to be the best sweeper that their community has endeavoured to have,” says Sibanda.

He says key to the club’s growth is financial wellness.

“Firstly, we must be thankful for past stewards of the club because there’s a reason why a club structured like ours has stood and still stands today. This means that amid all the challenges and criticism, a lot of good has been achieved in the past close to a century of existence. We can get even better by continuing to adapt to the changing times and environment.

“Ours is more about making sure that the dinosaur keeps evolving to avoid demise from revolutions economically, socially, sporting, technically, financially, etc, as is the reality of global life now.

“Our survival and growth will depend on our ability to match ideas, (of which we have no lack), and the appetite for delivering on achievable promises. Our answer to growth is financial wellness. This is and must be the next frontier of club development,” says Sibanda.

Sibanda says he is willing to work with whoever wins and who he finds at the club. He has no running mates. – @innocentskizoe.
