Sibekiwe Ndlovu lands post on Zifa board

Former Highlanders Royals chairperson and current Zifa Southern Region Women’s League board member (competitions) Sibekiwe Ndlovu has been appointed to the Zimbabwe Football Association Women’s Football Committee.

In a letter dated 19 August, acting Zifa chief executive, Xolisani Gwesela said: “The Zimbabwe Football Association (Zifa) has pleasure to confirm your appointment as member of the Women Football Committee. The appointment is with immediate effect.”

Zifa Southern Region Women’s League chairman, Takundwa Chimundiya welcomed the development calling it a positive step in the right direction for the development of the game in the country.

“This is a good development for the region. For a while we had been left out as a region but I think we should share these positions equitably if the game is going to develop evenly across the country. This is a good development.

We are happy for her and we will support her,” said Chimundiya.

Ndlovu is a Bosso life member and has been involved in football for a long time and is acknowledged as a fair administrator in some circles. She played a big part in the revival of Highlanders Royals once the pride of women’s football in the region.

Gwesela confirmed her appointment adding that among the key functions is to “champion the

development of women’s football in the country”.
