UNHAPPY with assaults and false accusations at the hands of his sister, a disgruntled Mutambara man has dragged his sibling to court seeking protection from her.

Norman Mutambawana told Mutare magistrate, Ms Purity Gumbo that his sister, Ruwadzano Mutambawana was in the habit of ganging up on him with her children to physically and verbally abuse him.

He said she also fabricates lies against him and his family as well as making false police reports.

“Your Worship, Ruwadzano is my sister and I want us to co-exist as siblings, but there is bad blood between us. Her children do not respect me as their uncle. At one point, one of our neighbours attempted to force himself on her, but she reported my son to the police as the assailant. However, my son was spared arrest when the truth later came out,” said Norman.

Ruwadzano, however, denied the allegations her brother was making against her.

She turned the tables on her brother, accusing him of disturbing her peace.

Said Ruwadzano: “My brother is a habitual liar. I have known no peace as he and his sons are always insulting and threatening me and my children. His son always comes to my place to cause a scene whenever he is drunk. I am now fearing for my life.”

Ruwadzano said most of the problems started when her brother moved from where he was staying to their parents’ homestead where she resides with her family.

“His family once accused me of poisoning their cattle, yet I never did that. I have no problem with this court granting him the protection order he applied for because we are already not on talking terms although we are staying together,” she said.

Ms Gumbo granted the protection order in Norman’s favour.
She also advised Ruwadzano to approach the same court if she feels she also needs protection from her brother.
