WHEN it comes to commemorating the day of his birth, socialite Babongile Sikhonjwa is known for pulling out all the stops.
From extravagant train parties to lively street bashes, he has left no stone unturned in his quest to make each birthday celebration more memorable than the last.
However, this time around, Sikhonjwa seems to have outdone himself by conjuring up a truly unique idea that is set to raise the bar even higher.
As a renowned radio and television personality hailing from Bulawayo, Sikhonjwa has always had a flair for the extraordinary.
In honour of his 47th birthday, he has orchestrated an unprecedented collaboration with the Zimbabwe National Army — an event that will surely be talked about for years to come.
“This birthday celebration will be unlike any other. I have joined forces with the army to create a day filled with exhilarating shooting activities set to take place at the prestigious Imbizo Barracks on Saturday,” Sikhonjwa shared enthusiastically.
Indeed, the occasion promises to be an open day event, inviting individuals from all walks of life to join in the festivities and experience the thrill of shooting under the expert guidance of the army.
Pistols, AK47s, and even machine guns will be made available for participants to handle and explore.
“It’s an opportunity for the public to interact with the armed forces in a unique way,” Sikhonjwa explained.
“The Zimbabwe National Army’s fun shooting day serves as a platform to foster camaraderie and strengthen bonds between the military and civilians. It’s all about sharing a memorable experience together.”
The choice to celebrate his birthday in this extraordinary manner speaks volumes about Sikhonjwa’s penchant for adventure and his desire to create lasting memories.
In 2016, he embarked on a party aboard a Zimbabwe National Railways train, journeying to Redwood and revelling in the company of his closest friends to mark his 40th birthday.
The following year, he transformed the intersection of 12th Avenue and Joshua Mqabuko Nkomo into a vibrant bash on the tarmac, capturing the essence of street culture and community spirit.
The Zimbabwe National Army’s fun shooting day perfectly embodies Sikhonjwa’s knack for pushing boundaries and seeking novel experiences.
By inviting the public to partake in this exhilarating activity, he hopes to bridge the gap between civilians and the military, fostering a sense of understanding and unity within the community.
Following the afternoon of shooting festivities, the celebration will shift gears and continue at the renowned Cosmopolitan Nightclub, where the revelry is expected to reach new heights.
As the night unfolds, Sikhonjwa’s friends, both old and new, will join him in raising a glass to mark another milestone in his extraordinary life.
