WHEN one relocates, especially to the diaspora, they expect to settle in well, adapt to the environment, find a comfortable way of making an income, and eventually be successful and fulfil what their heart desires.
Hailing from Nkulumane in Bulawayo, poetry sensation Silanke CweNgel moved to Germany early this year, and in a few months, she seems to be closer to realising her dreams of being an established poetry gem as she has found a niche as a budding poet in the Deutsche nation.
With her flawless ballads, she managed to catch the attention of veteran Austria-based Imbube maestro Blessings Nqo of Insingizi, who pledged to produce a collection of poetry for Silanke CweNgel. So far, the poetess, who was under the wings of Victory Siyanqoba while in Bulawayo, has successfully released a single titled Ungowami. The joint is inspired by a reflection of true love between partners.
“It was always a dream for me to have a full-length album of poetry, and ever since I moved to Germany early this year, things have been moving in my direction as that dream is about to be realised. While I was performing here in Germany, I got linked up with the Insingizi crew who are based in Austria but had come for shows here. I pitched my project concerning my first poetry album release to them. Luckily, Blessings Nqo bought into my vision and offered to work together throughout the processes related to my album release. We then recorded the first single Ungowami, which is already available on all online music stores,” said the poetess.

She credits Blessings Nqo as the writer of the musical vocals on the production, alongside Vusa Mkhaya, who directed the recording of the song. On penning the poem, Silanke CweNgel said she believes in true love and understands it as something real, especially when one is with the right person.
“When one finds their companion, they live to experience the sweetness of love. Love takes two to believe in each other, stand for each other, and fight to be with each other forever. In the poem, I encourage a man to never hesitate in advancing his love to an official marriage to show his lover that he accepts and appreciates her as a special part of his life. I always wish for the best outcomes whenever I see people in a serious love relationship; hence, I encourage people never to hesitate to settle down with the ones they have scrutinised and got to learn and understand a lot about,” she said.
The poetess established that they are in the studio working on her much-anticipated first poetry album, which will be ready for publication next year in April.
