SIMBA BHORA appear to have completed their transition from being referred to as mini CAPS United to Dynamos Lite.
The domestic Premiership champions were called mini CAPS United when they were still battling for a top-flight ticket in the ZIFA Northern Region Division One Soccer League four seasons ago.
This nickname was due to the team owner, Simba ‘Buju’ Ndoro, being a Makepekepe fan.
Ndoro’s club uses the green-and-white colours associated with CAPS United, reflecting his strong obsession with the five-time champions.
The club had a significant number of players from the Green Machine, when they won the Northen Region championship.
However, the situation has changed and Ndoro now appears to be targeting Dynamos recruits.
Simba Bhora will kickstart their 2025 campaign with a Castle Challenge Cup assignment against Dynamos.
This fixture features the league champions and the Chibuku Super Cup winners.
The clash will have the resemblance of Dynamos playing against a mini DeMbare, as Simba Bhora have seven former Glamour Boys available for selection.
They include Donald Mudadi, Junior Makunike, Emmanuel Ziocha, Blessing Moyo, Trevor Mavhunga, Tonderai Mateyaunga and Simbarashe Chinani.
They also have Joel Luphahla, who was the assistant to DeMbare’s coach, Lloyd Chigowe, when they won the Chibuku Super Cup last season.
Luphahla is in charge of Simba Bhora after the departure of Tonderai Ndiraya who moved to Scottland.
