SIMBA Bhora defender, Webster Tafa, has stood tall, spearheading a revolution that is putting Mashonaland Central on the football map.
The Shamva side are calling the shots with a six-point lead ahead of second placed FC Platinum.
There are only four games left to play.
Tafa told Zimpapers Sport that his quest for glory is not just about personal achievements but about elevating his community and province.
“I’m driven by the desire to put Mashonaland Central on the map. We’ve worked tirelessly to prove ourselves, and this season is our chance to make history,” said Tafa.
“We’ve come too far to let our lead slip. We’ll fight until the end, for Mashonaland Central, for Simba Bhora, for our people and our coach.
“We have never been in this position before but we have a lot of players who know how close we are and they have been motivating some of us to keep our eyes on the ball.”
Tafa’s impressive statistics tell only part of the story.
He has played every minute of the campaign, a staggering 30 league games, and two Chibuku Cup matches, without receiving a single yellow or red card.
Tafa has also registered two assists, expertly crafted through balls to teammate, Tymon Machope.
But, Tafa’s true impact extends far beyond numbers.
His leadership from the back has transformed Simba Bhora into a formidable force.
He was instrumental in Mushowani Stars’ 2018 ZIFA Northern Region Division One Soccer League success and did the same with Simba Bhora.
Now, he’s on the cusp of securing the Castle Lager Premiership.
Simba Bhora can even win a double if they also secure the Chibuku Super Cup.
They take on Ngezi Platinum Stars at Baobab tomorrow.
The 29-year-old defender has been battling quietly, often overshadowed by the team’s star players like Walter Musona, Mthokozisi Msebe and Tymon Machope.
