Zimbabwean artistes have struck gold with a cross-genre collaboration that has taken social media by storm. The new track, Simba Riri Mauri, unites some of the country’s biggest names in a powerful musical statement that celebrates unity while addressing drug and substance abuse.

Representing Tshibilika music is Clement Magwaza, while MaNine brings his energetic Ndebele Dancehall flair. The HKD Boss Freeman cements the sound with signature Zimdancehall vibes, and Nutty O adds an Afro-fusion twist. Saintfloew delivers a sharp hip-hop edge, while Feli Nandi’s soulful voice and Pauline’s seasoned Urban Grooves touch complete the rich blend.

Produced by Oskid and complemented by stunning visuals from Vusa Blaqs, the track has quickly gained traction, amassing over 160 000 views in just six days.

Population Solutions for Health (PSH) marketing manager Nigel Kunaka, who bankrolled the project, said the collaboration was designed to leverage the artistes’ influence to spread an anti-drug message that resonates with diverse audiences nationwide.
“We brought together artistes who appeal to different audiences, using their positive influence to inspire anti-drug behaviour, especially among the youth,” said Kunaka.

“The song supports the national movement against drug and substance abuse, reminding listeners that the strength to overcome lies within us. Its title draws from our campaign theme, The Strength Is In You, implemented with support from the Embassy of Sweden.”

The collaboration not only bridges genres but also reinforces the message that music remains one of Zimbabwe’s strongest tools for social change. – Follow on X: @mthabisi_mthire
