Founders of the famous Simuka comedy Doc Vikela and Simba “The Comic King” Kakora will celebrate their fourth anniversary in true comic style at the Sopranos Coffee bar in Avondale tomorrow with the theme “Men at work”.

Comedy heavyweights including Michael K and Comrade Fatso are scheduled to perform at the event. Co-founder and award-winning stand-up comedian Simba Kakora is elated about the upcoming anniversary celebrations.

“We have come a long way and I am excited about tomorrow’s show as it will mark a graceful four years since we started back in 2011.

“Simuka Comedy is a platform that enables aspiring comedians to perform across the nation.

“We are hoping that people come in numbers to support us as comedians who are genuinely making strides in Zimbabwe,” he said.

Simba also said he was happy with the amplified participation in shows which have set the pace for the Zimbabwean comedy.

“The numbers have since increased in comparison to when we started in 2011 with only four main comic acts and now we have more than forty comedians participating across the nation.

“We are growing by each show and are pleased to be part of such a ground breaking initiative,” he said.

Dubbed as the home of Zimbabwean stand-up comedy, Simuka Comedy has hosted some of Zimbabwe’s best comedians, from the hilarious Michael Kudakwashe to the upcoming comedians like Nqobizitha Siziba, also known as Q.
