Award-winning Makhabane is expected to arrive this afternoon while the Charambas, Blessing Shumba and Bhebhe are expected tomorrow morning.
The purpose of the event is to pray for the country and its leaders, the Government, service delivery, the forthcoming elections, revival of Bulawayo industries, the upcoming referendum and the national economy.
In a telephone interview yesterday, chairperson of the local organising committee, Pastor Pride Ndlovu confirmed that the prayers were on and said it was the church’s mandate to be purveyors of national healing.
He said it was encouraging to note that President Mugabe had on many occasions called for peace in the nation and they were supporting his stance.
“It is the church’s mandate to be at the forefront of healing the nation. When you see a nation that is not healed then it is not the politician’s fault or any other person’s fault but the churches. The church must take its place in the nation,” said Pastor Ndlovu.
He said the programme would begin at 9am with a praise and worship segment until 10am. Thereafter Reverend Mabhena from the Brethren in Christ Church would lead prayers until 1pm.
“After the prayers there will be performances from the gospel musicians until 6pm. We encourage people to come in their numbers to the peace prayers as this concerns all people. It will be free of charge,” said Pastor Ndlovu.
