Sista X drops new track

Mthabisi Tshuma
VERSATILE artiste Sista X has released a new track titled “My X” which seeks to urge leaders who are voted into power to always value the electorate for believing in them.
The track was released on Africa Day and is a follow up to her recently released song “Elements”. My X was produced by Walkman Alkhebu (Brain Nchabeleng, South Africa), while it was recorded, mixed and mastered by 6ixbeats (Godknows Mutarutse in Zimbabwe).
“My X” comes as we celebrate and commemorate Africa Day. It reflects on where we stand as Africans and seeks to protect what we are celebrating. While Africa is still recovering from the effects of colonial rule, its biggest handicap remains corruption. It’s the biggest virus since HIV.
“Believing that the ballot box is a possible antidote, “My X” confronts this virus by asserting the value of each X inserted on each ballot paper. “My X” is thus a call to African leaders to recognise the value of the X.  It is a demand for them to execute every duty and meet every expectation that is represented by every vote cast” My X” is the follow-up to her last single “Elements” and is the second single from the upcoming EP scheduled to be released in winter (June/July) 2024.
Sista X is a female Hip Hop artist, Poet and creative writer from Zimbabwe currently based in South Africa. She has been on the underground hip hop seen since early 2000 and is not quite an emerging artist. Sista X (real name Mercy Dhliwayo) is the co-founder of the Slam Emporium PLK, a spoken word movement that hosts spoken word events in and around Polokwane (South Africa).
