Six killed, several injured in Gweru bus accident

Six people, including a baby, died on the spot while several other passengers were injured when a Harare-bound Ehungwe bus they were travelling in overturned at the Fairmile Motel traffic circle in Gweru this morning.

The bus was coming from Botswana.

When The Herald arrived at the scene at around 7:40am, police officers and Gweru City Council firefighters were busy rescuing trapped passengers while the dead bodies were being loaded into a police van.

Officer Commanding police in Midlands Province, Commissioner Partson Nyabadza, was also at the scene.

“Six passengers died on the spot, and we are making a follow-up on those who have been rushed to the hospital to ascertain their condition. We also want a manifest of the people who were on the bus,” he said.
