SIX lucky shoppers yesterday walked away with cars during the Choppies Winter Promotion, with management at the supermarket chain pledging to continue giving back to their valued customers.Speaking at the function, Choppies group chairperson and former Zimbabwe Ambassador to South Africa, Ambassador Phelekezela Mphoko said the promotion was one of the many ways in which they were giving back to both the community and their customer base.
“In Ndebele they say ikhotha eyikhothayo, in this sense since you gave to us through buying from our supermarkets we are now giving back to you by such promotions.
“Please continue supporting Choppies like you have continued to do,” said Ambassador Mphoko. He said the supermarket chain would continue giving back to the community, through various donations and assistance facilities. Meanwhile, in a keynote address read on her behalf by acting Bulawayo Provincial Administrator Mrs Tsvagai Fikile Marovatsanga, the Minister of State for Provincial Affairs in Bulawayo, Cde Nomthandazo Eunice Moyo praised the manner in which Choppies was managing to work with other companies, saying this showed that there was hope in the revival of the city’s industries.
“This is not just a Choppies promotion but various other companies have come together to make this possible, showing that there is hope for Bulawayo. We must now take a cue from this and work towards joining hands in the revival of the city’s economy, with the advent of new technologies. I am really sure that we will go a long way in this endeavour.
“For those who won cars today, my call is that they should put them to good use and ensure that they benefit their families,” said Cde Moyo. Those who walked away with cars are Mr Trust Nkomo, Mr Musayamure Maambira, Mr Temba Ndlovu, Ms Christine Nyangara, Mike Gworera and Mr Levite Dube. Other lucky customers walked away with various household items that included stoves, fridges and washing machines.
