THERE were 65 cases of theft recorded during the Zimbabwe Agricultural Show, which ended on Saturday last week.
National police spokesperson, Commissioner Paul Nyathi, said the majority of the cases were recorded during the night when musical artists were performing.
“Most of the cases were recorded during the night when music artists were performing.
“Police continue to urge people to secure their valuables that include cellphones, hand bags and cash at public places,” said Comm Nyathi.
One of the show exhibitors, Nancy Govera, commended police visibility during the show.
“This year there was a limited number of vehicles allowed inside and, at first, we thought our vehicles might be broken into since we left them parked outside.
“I want to commend the police for increased visibility in and outside the showground.
“We never heard of any theft from cars and only a few people lost their cellphones.
“A number of people attended the Harare Agricultural Show this year and police were equal to the task though they cannot be everywhere,” said Nancy.
The 116th Zimbabwe Agricultural Show drew approximately 640 exhibitors and around 250,000 visitors.
