DJ Sida, a rising artist who specialises in AfroTech and tribal Afro-house music, is preparing to release his debut Afro-house single titled Mayibuye next month.

The DJ and producer who was born Sydney Tatenda Zhuwao has been honing his skills at Skyz Metro FM where he hosts a show that plays entirely local music.

His passion for music began at a young age, and he has never looked back as he has dedicated countless hours to perfecting his craft.

Now, his hard work is about to show as he prepares to unveil his first release.

DJ Sida said the forthcoming track serves as a powerful call to all Africans whose cultures have seemingly disappeared over time, to reclaim their heritage and revive their unique identities.

“The love of Africa made me pen this song. The song titled Mayibuye is a rallying cry for communities to reconnect with their roots, encouraging them to embrace their forgotten customs, languages and traditions,” he said.

The single’s release comes at a time when the African continent is experiencing a cultural renaissance, with a growing movement to revive and preserve traditional practices. DJ Sida’s Mayibuye aligns perfectly with this trend, providing a musical platform for Africans to embrace their cultural identities and inspire future generations to do the same.

The single, which was produced by DJ Sida himself, showcases his exceptional talent as a producer.

The DJ is famed for hosting Party Central which airs on Skyz Metro FM every Friday evening between 8 and 9pm.
He is also a house DJ and producer at Dab Three Events, a fast-growing events company in Bulawayo.

DJ Sida who continues to make a name for himself, has shared the stage with Toss from South Africa, Mtkay Ntwana, DJ Skaiva, MJ Sings, Msiz’kay, Mawiza and Asante Mo among others. He has performed at the Spring Fiesta, Gwanda Fiesta, Deep in the City and House/Kwaito Movement. —@TashaMutsiba
