Urban Reloaded with Swagga T & Brie
Hollywood celebrities are usually our favourite source of inspiration when it comes to fashion; hair, heels and everything in between
The trends can be pretty extreme, from outrageously bright colours, hectic make-up and wild accessories.
Now you can’t rock those during school days, can you?
However, here is a news flash; we did mention a few weeks ago that less is more and even Hollywood is embracing that. Take Nicky Minaj for example, her new look confirms this as she has taken a break from the Harajuku look to a more laid back but graceful one.
Slicked back/push back
We know Iggy Azalea rocked it at the MTV awards and so did Kendall Jenner who stole it from the queen sister Mrs Kimye West.
Why we love
It is age appropriate especially for school going kids and is super easy to pull off.
Be the next person to jump on the slicked back hair trend, it’s a clean, fresh and very simple look, but yes, you need to be careful of it looking greased back, rather than slick.
Top tip
It works better on treated hair so start by combing the hair back then apply lots of hairspray over it, until it’s almost wet.
When it’s dry, you’ll be left with that slicked back look plus a little volume thanks to the spray, rather than a waxy greased effect.
Put a few clips behind the ears too to help hold it back, coz you don’t want the wind to make it fly.
Hat challenge for guys
This crazy idea was inspired by Wednesday’s episode of The Rich Kids Of Beverly Hills.
Don’t you wish you were one!
Now while out shopping (like they always do and taking selfies all the way) El Johnson tried on Pharell William’s popular ugly brown hat.
We saw it first at the Grammys early this year and while it got all the bad reviews he never stopped wearing it.
In fact he now has more of them in different colours for different occasions (Marylyn Monroe video).
Lets face it, the hat is now soo in and can be found in different boutiques across the United states.
Why not steal the look and be daring as well in an old man’s hat this summer?
Just like Pharell, add sass to it with your usual funky clothes (shorts and tees) that confirm you are indeed not old but simply daring
Couch potatoes
There has been a number of activity that saw teens hanging and shining through the week.
Last week it was the “Battle of the School Bands” that was rocking the city and we are happy to say the winning school lived up to expectations when they performed at the official opening of the Musica festival held at the Italian Embassy on Wednesday.
So much to do, so many places to be but some of us would rather just chill and turn into couch potatoes.
While we are at it our love for music got us appreciating some of the brilliant talent being showcased everyday on the Trace video mix programme.
Iggy Azalea’s video being “mixed” with that of Nicky!
Most of us have access to computers and are abreast with the technology, why not try that out in your spare time. Just for the fun of it!!
A footsie
This is a selfie that is taken of one’s feet.
Weird but people are doing it a lot #Godknowswhy
