OVER 350 delegates will this afternoon converge in Masvingo for the annual three-day Sports Leaders Institute of Zimbabwe summer camp where top presenters are set to deliver lectures on sport health and wellness.

The symposium, whose theme is “Physical Education enhancing sport, health and wellness” has attracted participants from schools, tertiary institutions and football clubs across the nation. The summer camp against the backdrop of a successful International Sports Management Course last month ran by the institute in co-operation with West Virginia University.

Some of the presenters expected include World Anti-Doping Agency accredited doctor, Nicholas Munyonga, National Athletics Association of Zimbabwe president Tendai Tagara as well as Kyros Sports Business Development Director Nyasha Muchochomi. SLIZ president Russell Maradza Mhiribidi said all was set for the camp.

“We have been running around to make the summer camp a success. I can confidently confirm that all is now set for the symposium to kick off tomorrow (today). Initially we had anticipated a little over 250 participants but the response has been overwhelming. We now have more than 360 confirmed delegates.

”This shows how much confidence the people have developed in us. We started off these camps with a handful of people around 2013 but the numbers have been going on an upward trend since.

“One of the good things about these camps is that all those people who have taken part before have never been the same. We hope this camp will be a life-changing one in terms of sport development,” he said.

The SLIZ will be back in Masvingo for the second time this year after hosting an autumn camp with tertiary institutions in May.
