Motswana singer Slizer whose real name is Naledi Kaisara proved why she is one of Botswana’s sought-after musicians when she gave a brilliant show at Tongai Moyo’a commemorative gig over the weekend. Slizer, who was recently blessed with a bouncing baby, gave an energetic performance that left her fans crying for more.

She took to the stage after a scintillating act by our own Beverley “Bev” Sibanda who performed songs from her debut album “Tapinda”.
However, Slizer had the crowd eating out of her palms. She taught Bev a thing to two about music when she stormed the stage together with her group. She appealed to fans to support Bev and her music.

“The girl is talented. She is flexible please support her,” said Slizer.
Her group also thrilled the crowd through their revealing outfits which left little to the imagination.

It was, however, when Slizer ordered a minute of silence in remembrance of the late “Murozvi Mukuru” that was probably the peak of the show.

She then belted out Dhewa’s “Muchina Muhombe”, much to the delight of many. The musician, who has fallen in love with Zimbabwe, now speaks Shona.

Peter Moyo praised Slizer for a wonderful performance in honour of his late father.
“I want to thank Slizer for the love she showed to my late father and to our country at large.

“She has been a part of these commemorations from the beginning and it means a lot to me and many Zimbabweans,” he said.
The Tongai Moyo commemorative gig has grown over the last two years and this year was bigger. People started trickling into the Harare Gardens as early as 10am and by 1pm the venue was filled to capacity.

It was refreshing to see couples together with their children attending a show in a carnival atmosphere.
Progress Chipfumo, Suluman Chimbetu and First Farai among a host of other musicians performed on the night.
