Slomo debuts in D’Vat

NIMBLE footed dancer Francis Dhaka — popularly known as Franco Slomo in sungura music circles — will be in Mutare for a potentially exciting one-off show at Dangamvura Neighbourhood Tavern (PaBoka) tomorrow (Saturday). Dangamvura Neighbourhood Tavern entertainment manager Tafadzwa Matumba confirmed the development.

Matumba said the show would mark the start of a series of musical shows that would feature different artistes.
“We will have Franco Slomo this weekend and we hope to make musical shows a permanent feature at the venue after every fortnight. We will ensure that we get different musicians to perform here regularly.

“On Saturday’s show, Franco Slomo will be backed by Joseph Bhasera and Talent Falls Band. The band is the Chibuku Road to Fame 2014 Manicaland winners,” he said.
Since weaning himself in music circles to start his own musical project, Franco Slomo — a former member of Alick Macheso’s Orchestra Mberikwazvo and Suluman Chimbetu’s Orchestra Dendera Kings, has staged some memorable shows where he gave a polished and energetic act which left fans calling for more.

With songs off Extra Kwazvose’s two albums such as Ndizvo Zviripo and Zvepasirino, revellers in Mutare have every reason to expect a scintillating act when the talented dancer-cum-musician takes to the stage.

Other songs that were received by fans include Gurajena, Mai vaBhoni, Thelma and Ruvarashe.
