TRAVIS Smith and Stuart Krog carry the hopes of their nation when they represent Zimbabwe at the World Amateur Team Championships in Florida, United States, in two weeks time. The two were selected to participate in the Doral Publix Junior Golf Classic and the Orange Bowl Junior Invitational tournaments over the Christmas period in the United States.
Krog and Smith are expected to leave the country shortly in the company of their coach Roger Baylis.
Zimbabwe Junior Golf Association president, Brian Maphosa, believes they have a very good team.
Maphosa said the players earned the right to represent the country based on their results in qualifying tournaments which saw them on top of the order of merit.
“I think this is the best prepared team we have managed and will be taking to the Eisenhower Trophy in a while.
“The players earned their place in the team.
Meanwhile, Elephant Hills were crowned the 2013 Zimbabwe Matchplay Champions at Norton Country Club at the weekend.
