Snooker dispute turns fatal in Ntabazinduna

Police have arrested a 24-year-old man in connection with a murder case following a dispute during a snooker game at Mzenda Business Centre in Ntabazinduna.

In a statement shared on its social media platforms, the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) confirmed the arrest of Emanuel Phiri (24) over the death of Fortune Hadebe (33).

The incident occurred on April 10, 2026, at Mzenda Business Centre in Thokozani Village, where the suspect allegedly stabbed Hadebe once on the right hand after a misunderstanding during the game.

Hadebe sustained a deep cut and initially sought treatment at Ntabazinduna Clinic. He was later referred to United Bulawayo Hospitals but died on April 11, 2026, before reaching the health institution.

Police have since taken Phiri into custody as investigations into the matter continue.

The ZRP urged members of the public to resolve disputes amicably and avoid resorting to violence.
