Sodomy boat captain nabbed

POLICE have arrested a former touring company boat captain who was implicated by a 31-year-old Victoria Falls man for sodomising him for 19 years and infecting him with HIV.
The man alleges that former United Touring Company (UTC) boat captain Masiye Moyo, 54, started sodomising him when he was 11 years old at his parents’ house.
Moyo, originally from Gwampa, Lupane, was a tenant at his victim’s parents’ house in Chinotimba.

He later moved out to a company house – where the two men were living as husband and wife.
Court documents say Moyo allegedly started abusing his victim when he was 16 years old, until last year.

Moyo, who had moved to his rural home because of ill-health, appeared before Victoria Falls resident magistrate Sharon Rosemani recently charged with sodomy.
Chronicle broke the story last month and the former “wife” reported the case after Moyo’s relatives attempted to evict him from the house.

He claims that Moyo offered him the house as compensation for infecting him with HIV and has vowed not to leave as he says he cannot go back to his mother’s house in his condition.

The state alleges:
“In May this year, the complainant went to the house and started staying there while the accused was in the rural areas.
“The accused’s relatives decided to evict him and he went to report the case of sodomy,” read the outline of facts.

There was no mention of the HIV infection in court as the medical report has not been availed.
Moyo and his partner were allegedly known lovers in the neighbourhood while the accused also reportedly abused a number of other boys.

Moyo was granted $100 bail and ordered not to interfere with witnesses.
He returns to court on Thursday next week.
