A MAGISTRATE yesterday questioned the sanity of a Fort Rixon man who allegedly sodomised his five-year old female niece. Bishop Ndlovu, 28, appeared before Bulawayo magistrate Sibongile Msipa-Marondedze facing a charge of aggravated indecent assault.
Ndlovu pleaded not guilty and was remanded in custody to March 6 before being advised to apply for bail at the High court.
“Are you normal?” Msipa-Marondedze asked the father of two.
“I’m mentally stable your worship. There is nothing wrong with me and l didn’t commit the offence,” said Ndlovu.
“This court doesn’t have power to grant you bail. You will appear on March 6 and you will be remanded in custody. If you want to be out of custody you will have to apply for bail at the High Court,” said Msipa-Marondedze. Prosecuting, Charles Danda told the court that on February 16 at around 7PM Ndlovu called the girl into his bedroom and she complied.
“Ndlovu undressed the victim before carrying her to his bed,” said Danda.
The court heard that he removed his clothes and had anal sex with the girl, without her consent.
After committing the offence Ndlovu is alleged to have bathed the victim’s behind and ordered her to go back to her mother who was at the next homestead.
When the victim got home her mother realised that her clothes were wet and interrogated her.
The girl narrated the ordeal to her mother who quickly reported the matter to the police leading to Ndlovu’s arrest.
The girl was sent to United Bulawayo Hospital for medical examination.
