SOLE SWAGGER! Byo Sneakers Expo returns with legacy heat

Langalakhe Mabena,  SNEAKERHEADS, get your kicks ready!

The Bulawayo Sneakers Expo is back for its fourth edition, and this year it’s set to make a serious statement under the theme “Laced for Legacy.”

Set for 18 October, at a venue soon to be announced, the country’s biggest streetwear and fashion gathering promises more drip, more culture, and more attitude than ever before.

From its humble beginnings, the Expo has grown into a force where fashion, creativity, and urban culture collide. According to organiser Mlamuli Moyo, this year’s edition is not just about sneakers, it’s about the impact and legacy Zimbabwean youth are creating through style.

“It’s a fashion movement. Every year we evolve. We’ve learnt a lot and now we’re bringing a sharper experience. From smoother vendor setups to crowd engagement, we’re making sure every moment is electric,” said Moyo.

This year’s event will feature fresh elements like a sneaker museum, street style runway, and interactive spaces including a customisation station, graffiti wall, and other immersive touchpoints that bring urban culture to life.

The organisers are also expanding into lifestyle and fashion brands beyond just sneakers, giving fans a wider range of curated experiences.

While fans have been pushing for international acts, Moyo says the focus remains local.

“We’ve always wanted to keep it authentic. The Expo isn’t a concert, it’s a fashion-first experience. Local acts will lead the show and represent the culture. If an opportunity to bring in international stars comes, we’ll explore it — but for now, it’s all about homegrown heat,” he said.

The Expo team is also running a buzzing #LacedForLegacy challenge on Instagram, calling on fans to show off their cleanest kicks paired with their personal legacy quotes.

With new merchandise dropping soon and influencer campaigns rolling out, the countdown to Zimbabwe’s hottest sneaker celebration has officially begun.
