Son arrested for fatally stabbing father with a spear

AN 18-year-old man from Niniva village in Mbembesi, Matabeleland South province, has been arrested for allegedly fatally stabbing his 49-year-old father with a spear following a yet to be established domestic dispute.

In a statement on X, national police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the arrest of Abel Ncube for allegedly killing his father Dumezweni Ncube.

“The Zimbabwe Republic Police confirms the arrest of Abel Ncube (18) in connection with a case of murder which occurred at a homestead in Niniva village, Mbembesi on 19 October 2024 in which his father police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi (49) died,” said Comm Nyathi.

Police said the suspect allegedly stabbed the now deceased on the left side of the chest using a spear after a domestic dispute.

“The victim bled profusely and passed on. The body of the victim was taken to United Bulawayo Hospital for post-mortem,” said Comm Nyathi.
