A 21-year-old man from Mpopoma suburb in Bulawayo, who allegedly tried to stab his father with a knife following a misunderstanding was yesterday dragged to court on physical abuse charges.
Ndumiso Ncube appeared before Bulawayo magistrate, Mr Vakai Douglas Chikwekwe, who remanded him in custody to November 14.
According to State prosecutor, Mr Milton Moyo, the incident occurred sometime in September this year.
Mr Moyo told the court that Ndumiso’s father, Mr Ndabezinhle Ncube, advised his son to look for a job to make ends meet, and this did not go down well with him leading to a verbal and physical confrontation.
“Mr Ncube tried advising Ndumiso to do something meaningful with his life. It was then that Ndumiso left the dining room, went to his bedroom, armed himself with a knife, and threatened to stab his father,” said Mr Moyo.
He said Mr Ncube managed to defend himself using a chair before Ndumiso’s young brother intervened and disarmed him.
“Ndumiso bit his young brother on the right hand during the scuffle,” added Mr Moyo.
