A 29-year-old man from Ruwa has been arrested for allegedly killing his stepfather following a disagreement over a maize field.

The incident occurred in the Mabvazuva area on Saturday.

The victim, 37-year-old Kudakwashe Maramwidze, was reportedly struck in the head by his stepson, George Musekiwa, using a hoe during an argument over the land they were tending together.

Kudakwashe’s body is awaiting a postmortem examination, and the police are conducting a thorough investigation under case number RRB 6489639.

The victim sustained severe head injuries and, despite being rushed to Parirenyatwa Hospital, succumbed to his injuries shortly after admission.

Kudakwashe’s wife, Chengeto Musekiwa, expressed the family’s shock.

“We are devastated by this tragic event. We still do not understand why George chose to attack his father,” she said.

“They were weeding together when the misunderstanding escalated. We are still in shock and have not made any burial arrangements.”
