FORMER Warriors and Harare City star Silas Songani has been seen training at Highlanders, with indications the PSL giants could add the veteran to their books.
After being second runner-up on the Soccer Stars list in 2013, Songani spent the better part of his career in Europe, particularly Denmark.
The 36-year-old returned back home briefly, playing for FC Platinum just before Covid-19, and reverted to Europe.
Chances are now high he could be one of the foundations that head coach Benjani Mwaruwari wants to build-on.
Yesterday Highlanders continued to fine-tune their squad ahead of the 2026 Castle Lager Premier Soccer League season with two closed-door practice matches against Zifa Southern Region Division One League side Nkayi United at the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF) Arena.
The media and supporters were barred from accessing the venue as Mwaruwari’s technical team kept cards close to the chest.
However, Zimpapers Sports Hub managed to get a brief glimpse into the sessions, which revealed key insights into the club’s transfer activity and tactical direction.
While several new recruits featured across the two matches, it was the second practice game that drew particular attention, with experienced campaigners Songani, Lawrence “Des” Mhlanga and goalkeeper Aaron “Arusha” Ngwenya all getting a run — a clear indication that Bosso are leaning heavily on experience to anchor their rebuild.
Songani, an Aces Academy product, brings composure and authority to the middle of the park.
Equally eye-catching was the presence of the imposing Lawrence Mhlanga in defence.
Between the posts, Aaron “Arusha” Ngwenya replaced Pride Zendera in the second match. Earlier in the day, new-comers Rainsome Pavari, Shelton Moyo and Mongameli “Smaller” Tshuma featured alongside players such as Reward Muza and Darlington Munkuli.
Former Orlando Pirates midfielder Kudakwashe “Nkembe” Mahachi was seen warming up, but did not feature.
