WITH her debut poetry album Sabela, Lyndah Talent Sibanda, also known by her stage name Sonkomose, delivers a powerful message of social awareness and activism.

Her praise poems touch on some of the most urgent and sensitive issues that affect our society today: mental health, drug abuse, and gender-based violence.

The album consists of three poems – War Cry Continues, Ubuwula Bonhlaba, and Yeyeni. In each poem, Sonkomose gives voice to the pain and struggle of those who suffer from these issues, and urges the society to take action and show compassion.
Sonkomose shared the inspiration and meaning behind her poems.

“The first poem highlights the devastating effects of the ignorance towards mental health for men and young boys. The second poem explores the dangers of drug abuse and its impact on individuals and society. The third poem addresses the issue of gender-based violence and the need for greater support and protection for victims.

“There will be visuals for the GBV poem which is going to be part of the package. There is a bonus poem ‘I am sonkomose’ which is of Sithole clan names,” she said. – @mthabisi_mthire
