Member of the pop trio Soul Afrika, Takura Shonhai seems to be enjoying life as a solo act as he has released a new motivational hip-hop song titled “MaObama”. The song which premièred on Star FM on June 30 touches on the hardships encountered by people as they go about their day to day activities in life and the need to strive to overcome those challenges .Speaking in an interview, Shonhai who is currently riding high on his hit song, “Zino Irema” said the new song aims to encourage hard work among the listeners.

“The message behind the song is that let`s do what we can do to achieve our goals as well as a better life.

We need to go out of our way to ensure that we work and provide for our families without thinking what people will say about us,” Shonhai said.

Part of the song goes on to affirm his statement when it says; “Unofa nenzara ukaita chi salad (You may die of hunger if you are ashamed of working)”.

Critics have also predicted that his new song has the potential to emulate his previous release which is in the top ten charts of the three leading urban radio stations in Zimbabwe; ZiFM, Star FM and Power FM.

The Masvingo-born artiste also went on to repudiate rumours circulating that members of Soul Afrika had gone their separate ways.

“Soul Afrika is still very much alive and you can expect future projects from the group. We are focusing on solo careers for now but we have not disbanded”.

Takura, as he is affectionately known in the music circles is no stranger to the music industry as he is part of the ensemble Soul Afrika with Donald Mapholisa and Tatenda Sauramba.

The group is behind popular songs like the 2014 hit, “Zvinhu” and “Gule Kwete” which was released last year.
